I really do feel sorry for the cute little confused old man. Being president is hard enough, but he really could have done without September 11th. So many hard decisions and all under the microscope of the entire world and all with consequences beyond anyone's comprehension.

This is another situation where no choice is easy. It would appear to me that a boycott would be the right thing to do, but it would happen at such a great cost. I think he is a man that does what he thinks is right regardless of what the popular opinion is, so I'm curious to see what happens.Jumphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13133997009788883007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8083812341578944487.post-27544232316154577982008-04-10T09:54:00.000-07:002008-04-10T09:54:00.000-07:00I hate to see the athletes who have been training ...I hate to see the athletes who have been training their balls off for the Olympics be put down like that....but I think that makes the effect all that much better. What is more important? A bunch of really in shape athletes proving to the rest of the world that we are superior athletically, or making a statement about human rights in the midst of a culture that treats people like doo doo.....its a no brainer. The athletes have to boycott. If Gdub doesn't impose an official boycott, it'll be a shame.

Screw starbucks, nike, and you know what? Screw the american economy. Seriously, what is more important here? Human rights or the price of gas? (I'm scared to ask that to the majority of our "great" nation). I do have a funny tidbit to tack on to that...in our small group discussion about 3 weeks ago, we were talking about the mission of Christ and I asked our group (largely unchurched) what were some problems/issues in the world that they were passionate about seeing come to an end. They responded with answers like "The economy", "Gas prices", "Crooked politicians", "Environment Abuse", and the such. I was stunned that people weren't thinking of human rights, the porn industry, poverty in third world countries, etc etc. It's just not the natural course of thinking for most of America. Sadly enough.

I vote for Boycott....but I think it should (if it can?) come from the UN, that way we know that its all the powerful countries and not just the big bad bully America.

But now I can play Devil's Advocate (yes I can carry on a discussion with myself).....in an opposing argument I would say this and this only: "But...but...but....I like my Skinny Mocha Frappucino and don't want to pay anymore for it!"

-PKAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
